The blood-soaked eld of Culloden in April, 1746 saw the end of Charles Edward Stuart's dream of a Stuart revival. After ve harrowing months on
the run The Pretender eventually reaches the safety of France, but for his
adherents, most of whom were cut down and butchered, escape was not so easy as they sought sanctuary from the retribution of Cumberland's
soliders.
The Ferrers Connection centres around Richard Ferrers, a young man
wrongly accused of involvement in the late rebellion and his subsequent attempts to prove his innocence while taking refuge with a group of local
smugglers.
But the evidence he needs to prove his innocence remains tantalising out
of reach, and just when he begins to think that he will be on the run for the rest of his life, salvation appears in the form of Major Gideon Neville, a man without whom Richard Ferrers cannot hope to regain his freedom or claim the hand of the woman he loves.
But can Major Neville, who falls in love with Elizabeth Ferrers, Richard's loyal and devoted sister, who has no reason to like or trust redcoats, convince her as to his integrity where her brother is concerned as well as overcome her animosity suciently for her to trust him and return the love.
