Penelope K Charles
The author was born and educated in Watford where she continued to live for fifty plus years until, in 2000 she moved from Herts to North Wales so she and her second husband could benefit from the quieter and slower pace of living.
It was here that she developed her love of writing, filling every spare moment with jottings about anything and everything, life itself providing the most interesting scenarios.
Due to her husband’s ill health, they returned to the south in 2006 to be in closer proximity to their children and grandchildren, the reduction in travelling a comforting advantage.
Always an avid reader, she now saves the most lengthy novels for holiday times, enabling her to complete each without interruption. Her choices are quite diverse, always willing to give a new name a chance, though her preferred authors are Catherine Cookson, Agatha Christie and Harry Bowling. During the last few years she’s also indulged in some Jacqueline Wilson tales and thoroughly enjoyed ‘Harry Potter’, both essential to keep up with the younger family members.
Now retired, she enjoys the semi-rural life in a village close to Dover in Kent, most of her leisure time being spent either writing or gardening, both being her major passions in life. The days are full, but enjoyable, and she sometimes wonders how she ever had the time to go out to work!
