Publishing with UKUnpublished

The service of UKUnpublished has been designed to offer authors a simple but comprehensive service, and I hope that is shown in our one service package.

Which includes :

Preparing Your Book

• Create a “print ready” file from your word processed manuscript,
• Create a plain cover design, use of pictures you provide, or use of your own computerised design (Please ask if you are unsure - because I can only use designs which can be directly converted to the required specification).
  Or, a professionally designed cover to your specification, or from your ideas / synopsis which will be quoted specifically for your requirement.
• You are involved at every step, and the book must be approved by you before it can be published (only digital files are provided for your approval, however this has been successful for all UKUnpublished Authors so far).
• ISBN number for each format of your book.

Paperback Book

• Your book is printed, and you receive one copy.
• You can purchase additional copies at a reduced 'Author's rate' - to keep, give away, or sell yourself.
• Make your book available worldwide, including in bookshops and on websites.
• Enhanced bookshop information - which gives the retailer full information about the book, and the Author.
• Copies submitted to the six legal deposit libraries.

eBooks

• Create an eBook copy of your work (compatible with the Sony Reader, PCs and many mobile devices),
• Create an eBook copy of your work suitable for the Amazon Kindle,
• Your ebook is made available for sale worldwide
• Sold at low cost as recommended by the eBook industry to encourage sales (we do not seek to profiteer from the new medium).

Royalties

• Paying excellent royalties of 80p per sale, whether you sell one copy or one million copies. There are no limits on the amount you can earn, and no sliding scales or sales targets.

Advertising and Promotion

• UKUnpublished provides a page on the website, which has information about you, a photo, information about your book and links to purchase.
• A link to your own personal website if you have one.
• Sales and Distribution - UKUnpublished’s sister site, UKBookland.co.uk, sells all of the books published by UKUnpublished Authors, and it provides excellent discounts based on the Recommended Retail Price, which helps encourage sales, and doesn’t affect your Royalty.
• An edition of the UKUnpublished and UKBookland Newsletter is sent out when your book is available for sale bringing it to the attention of a growing list of book lovers.
• Your book receives a mention on the UKUnpublished Facebook group, with links to purchase.
• Your book is tweeted about on the UKUnpublished Twitter page, to a growing number of UKUnpublished followers.
• Waterstones Core Stock Catalogue consideration - Your book will be submitted to Waterstones, where they will consider adding it to their Core Stock Catalogue. If successful, your book is usually stocked automatically in several stores, and many stores are more likely to stock your book.
• UKUnpublished now works with an excellent marketing and promotion company, which although is quite expensive at £750 inc. VAT it could be worthwhile (completely optional).
• There are also so many simple, free or cheap advertising and promotion options, and I am more than happy to recommend ideas, or help where possible. These ideas also include some which come from other UKUnpublished Authors with varying levels of success with each.

So, the cost?

A simple one off cost of £250 + VAT (which is relevant for all Paperback books with a black and white interior) - if you require something different, have a look at 'What else can you offer?' (Coming Soon), or feel free to ask, and a specific quote can be requested.
Plus Professional Cover Design, which is optional.

Changes to an already approved and published book (where the problem was not caused by UKUnpublished) will require an additional charge, however this will simply represent the cost and time involved, and you will always be notified prior to any charges being accrued - although this is a very rare occurrence.

Very large books, Colour, or Hardback books may require a different price to represent the increased complexities and costs involved, however we make every effort to include all books within the above price, but have a look at 'What else can you offer?' (Coming Soon), or feel free to ask.

Annual Fee (included Free of Charge for the first TWO years)

One Year - £20.00

The reason for this fee is that the printer and distributors that UKUnpublished uses provide:

Lower print costs (than other alternative options UKUnpublished had available) - which may encourage higher sales
Guaranteed listing with major wholesalers, for example, Bertrams and Gardners
Made Available directly to Amazon.co.uk and Blackwells in the UK
Guaranteed listing with major US wholesalers, for example, Ingram Book and Baker & Taylor
Made Available directly to Amazon.com and Barnes & Noble

"What do I need to do to become a UKUnpublished Author?"

Please contact me via the 'Contact' page, or email me at the address below. Just a short email about you as an Author, whether you have tried any self publishing etc, what the book(s) you are hoping to publish are about, and their approximate length. Of course, if you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to ask, and I will do what I can to answer as soon as possible.

From then, all you have to do, is provide the components of your book, and we prepare the rest, but you are kept fully involved at every step.
